Dreary Day and the Start of Holiday Baking

There is something completely anti-motivational about the weather today. I had trouble finding my “mojo” to get to the pool this morning for practice. Fortunately I didn't think about how easy it would have been to stay inside and avoid the dreary, rainy day outside, and I just got ready and walked out the door. I didn't have a great practice, but I did more yardage than I've done in a long time. So, that little tidbit goes in the plus category of my day. I had every intention of starting my Christmas shopping after bringing up some more decorations from the basement, but that didn't happen. I did do a tiny bit more decorating, and then I got side-tracked. The next thing I knew, I was reading my book. Fortunately, John was a little more motivated after work, and he got a double batch of Banana Bread started. We actually changed the recipe this time. It's never happened before in the long history of making this recipe. We used Toll House Dark Chocolate Chips (which Nestlé calls Morsels), instead of regular semi sweet ones. The breads smell amazing and are just out of the oven. I am in charge of getting them into the freezer before either of us cracks and cuts into one. Hide the knives! No, we can wait. We want to enjoy this treat with the kids sometime over the Christmas holiday.
