This losing an hour of sleep day AKA Daylight Savings Time is one of my least favorite days of the year. But, then again, I don't like any day that I lose sleep. So, in an effort to brighten my day (and to try to stay awake until a reasonable bed time hour), here are my two Top Ten lists, as promised. I'll start with the ways in which “Age might be a number, but it's doing a number of strange old person things to me.”
*Here are my top ten signs I might be becoming an “Old Person”:
1) I forget things. Things like, Why did I come into this room?“ Or, “Why am I looking into the refrigerator?”
2) I spend a lot of time thinking about, talking about, and/or pining away for the Good Ol' Days (lately, anyway).
3) I have a bird feeder in my yard. And, I have time to ensure it stays filled…
4) I might need a little nap some (most) afternoons. Not a major sleep session, just a restorative little shut eye.
5) I have trouble sleeping consistently. Gone are the days when I could sleep soundly every night, all night and sleep in until 10:00 AM. (Which completely explains the napping, right?)
6) I can't stand the TV blaring into a. Empty rooms and b. The room I'm sitting in… “Honey, can you turn that down?”
7) I can't believe how young I think I am and how young I feel, until I start doing old person things or until I think of my age.
8) I am getting “loud,” according to Alex. I was loud when I was doing laundry while he was napping. (Really, it was time for him to get up, but I said, “I know! That's because we're getting old!”)
9) I make many trips to the grocery stores during the week (or none), but only buy a handful of items at a time.
And, 10) We have very little food in our refrigerator or pantry.
And, here are My Top Ten signs Age is Just a Number because I Still Got It:
1) I can read the fine print without fully extending my arm to get the words into focus. This means I do not own “readers” or the “attractive,” jewelry-style necklace to have my “readers” hanging from my neck (so I can find them…). Hurrah! Not there yet!
2) I am not coloring my hair, because I'm not THAT gray, yet!
3) I can hear you. 99% of the time, I can hear what is being said to me.
4) I can do “ninja rolls” in an attempt to capture photos of the birds at my bird feeder without their knowledge or consent.
5) I'm very active and in pretty good shape. I swam 7 miles last week with my Masters group, which is to say in a competitive swim environment. (Not granny lap swimming– all the strokes, varying distances, on timed intervals).
6) I know the words (and occasionally the dance moves) to current pop songs.
7) I have Social Media accounts and I know how to use them! And, I'm not afraid to use them! Follow me on Twitter @AngieKozSwims and on Instagram at AngieKozSwims.
8) I can pull an “all nighter,” if I need to (in the interest of volunteering). For example, I was a co-chair of AfterProm parties for 5 years – that was 5 up all night nights. Before that, I was up one night a summer for overnight swim charity events with my kids summer swim team.
9) I might be afraid or nervous to try new things, but I can do it anyway! Take writing this blog, for example.
And, probably the best sign, (from Alyssa), 10) You may find me “Dancing to 60s music with a tambourine in the dining room on a regular basis.”
So, there you have it. I think the youthful list outweighs the Old Person list. Don't you?

I don’t know – List ONE sounds to me like you might have succumbed to Age Acquired ADD – I hear it’s on the rise.
You don’t have to really worry yet, however – it’s NOTHING compared to AAADD (“Advanced” Age Acquired)!!
